The panels

Red carries the set, with dark grey and teal panels breaking it up and yellow and gold surfacing in the smaller motifs. Circles, zigzags and vertical stripes are each given their own ground, so the eye moves across the piece instead of settling on one repeat.

Styling

Red is the obvious festive and formal choice, but the teal and grey panels here keep it wearable on an ordinary office day too. Gold jewellery follows the accent colour, and a plain teal piping or sleeve band is a better finish than adding another pattern.

1. Will the red bleed onto the lighter panels?
No. The fabric is colour-fast and does not bleed on the first wash, so lighter areas of the print stay clean.

2. How can I tell it is genuinely hand block printed?
Look closely at the repeats. Every motif is stamped from a hand-carved wooden block, so the register shifts a little and no two impressions land identically. A screen or machine print gives a flat, perfectly uniform repeat; this one does not.

3. What does the unstitched set include?
Three separate unstitched pieces: top, bottom and dupatta. The top and bottom are 2.5 metres each and 44 to 45 inches wide, and the dupatta is 2.5 metres and 35 to 36 inches wide.

4. How do I wash and care for it?
Dry clean the first wash. After that a gentle cold hand wash is fine, and the fabric stays colour-fast.
