The borders

The set is monochrome red with the pattern gathered into wide rectangular bands at the dupatta ends, printed in cream and beige with repeating geometric shapes and stylised florals. Across the garment pieces the print thins out to placed motifs, so the eye goes to the borders and stays there.

Styling

Deep end borders are made to be seen hanging, so drape the dupatta long rather than pleating it at the shoulder. Red with cream reads festive without going bridal, which makes it easy for a wedding lunch or a family function. Gold jewellery for evenings, a cream or beige bag by day. The cream repeats vary slightly in weight along the band, as every hand-stamped border does.

Wide borders are built up impression by impression, block by block, until the band runs true across the width and depth of the cloth. The cream geometry on this red dupatta was laid down that way in a Bhagalpur workshop, each carved block inked, positioned by eye against the one before it, and pressed home.

1. How do I know this is hand block printed and not machine printed?
Look at the repeats. Hand block printing leaves tiny shifts where one carved wooden block meets the next, and a little variation in how deeply the colour sits. Screen and machine printing repeat perfectly. Every metre of this set was stamped by hand in Bhagalpur, so those small differences are the proof, not a flaw.

2. Will the red bleed into the cream border?
No. The fabric is colour-fast and does not bleed on the first wash, so the cream bands stay clean against the red ground.

3. What comes in the set, and can it be stitched for a larger size?
Three unstitched pieces: a top of 2.5 m, a bottom of 2.5 m, both 44 to 45 inches wide, and a dupatta of 2.5 m at 35 to 36 inches. That meterage lets a tailor cut it to your exact fit, up to 4XL, and the length can be customised for larger sizes.

4. Do I need a lining under this kurta?
No. The silk is opaque, so it needs no lining or aster. Many customers add one anyway, purely to give the kurta more body and a more formal fall.

5. What if I do not like the shade when it arrives?
Exchange is available if the shade or the quality is not what you loved. Screens do shift colour a little, so the fabric can read slightly warmer or cooler in daylight than it does on your phone.
