How dark is the maroon?
Deep enough to read almost brown against the mustard body, lifted by horizontal gold banding and medium flower buti worked across the pallu.
What comes in the set, and how long is the saree?
An unstitched Maheshwari silk drape measuring 6.3-6.5 m in total length and 45-46 inches wide, weighing 350-360 g at 44-46 GSM. The total length includes an attached, unstitched blouse piece of 80-90 cm in a contrast deep maroon, which is included in the stated price. Fall, pico and edge finishing are not done before dispatch, but we will do them on request.
How do you evidence the hand weaving?
It is handwoven on a pit loom, with the weft inserted by hand and the patterning on body, border and pallu set on a dobby. Through the loom itself, and through the master-weaver households of Mominpura, Maheshwar, who weave these pieces. The Handloom Mark is held with the registration on record, and every piece is checked before it leaves us. Nothing we sell is machine-woven.
What does bugdi mean?
Bugdi describes the woven border design, which reads the same on both faces of the border. It is a feature you can turn over in your hand and see for yourself.
What is a flower buti?
Buti is the small woven motif scattered across a saree, worked into the cloth on the loom rather than printed or embroidered on afterwards. A flower buti is that motif in a floral shape. On this saree they are small and sparse on the mustard body, and larger between the gold bands of the maroon pallu.
How sheer is the body?
The body is semi-sheer, which is what gives the saree its weight of 350-360 g and its 44-46 GSM. Wear it with a petticoat in a matching or complementary shade. The same lightness is why it drapes softly and holds its pleats through a long evening.
How close is the delivered shade to the images?
Every handloom saree is individually woven by skilled artisans. Slight variations in weave, texture, and colour are natural characteristics of handcrafted textiles and reflect the authenticity of genuine artisan craftsmanship. Colours may vary slightly between screens and in natural light If the shade does not match or you are unhappy with the quality, we will exchange the piece.
What is the care routine for this saree?
Dry clean only. Air-dry in shade without wringing, iron inside out on low to medium heat under a cotton press cloth, then store the saree wrapped in breathable cotton or muslin in a cool dark cupboard, refolding it every three to six months. Home washing is not recommended.
What should I wear this to?
Festival and festive occasions, formal and ethnic events, party wear, and weddings or receptions attended as a guest.
What is your return and exchange window?
